Upload Media and link to it from posters, flyers, T-shirts, etc
Well, I’m pleased to say that Augme now has a media upload feature available. You have to log-in to access it, but once you do, you can upload mp3s and mpeg/3gp movie files and point your QR Codes/ Datamatrix Codes at them. Then, anyone with a code reader on his/her phone can scan your Augme Tag and download your music or movies.
So, this is an invitation to people who want to promote music or movies to try the feature out. We don’t charge for it, but we would appreciate feedback from users so that we can improve the service.
Here’s an video that demonstrates an MP3 being downloaded via an Augme Tag:
Please note: Before uploading movies or music to the site, make sure you have the right to distribute it.Pet Shop Boys “Integral”
This is a really cool video! The Pet Shop Boys have a video out called integral that features QR Codes heavily.
Welcome to the Augmented Blog
Hi everybody. Welcome to The Augmented Blog. My name’s Matt, and I’m your host.
This blog is to discuss the use of 2D mobile-readable codes in mobile marketing and self-expression. These codes can be printed on just about anything, including T-shirts, stickers, posters, CD covers, and more. They can also be displayed on a TV or computer screen. Using the camera on a mobile device such as a cellphone, you can decode these 2D codes and then there are a number of things that you can do with them.
In my opinion, the most interesting use of mobile codes is as links to websites and other types of files hosted on the internet. Among the possibilities are linking to :
- social networking profiles,
- MP3s
- movie files
- downloadable games
- image files
This is great for marketing. Why? Well, it lets you incorporate multimedia into printed materials. Promoting a musician or movies with flyers doesn’t give anyone a real taste of the experience that is to come. If you put a mobile barcode onto a flyer that links to an MP3 or movie file, you can give people a sample of what you are selling.
I’m interested in hearing from readers about the possibilities that can come from these real world hyperlinks.
